Can Blood Clots Cause Bleeding?

Hi, s week ago I slipped on some oil at work and when I went down my knee struck the concrete floor. I have a prosthetic knee. The knee swelled up on the side and front of knee. Ice had not brought swrlling down. In the past 2 days now the whole shin area down too ankle is highly sensitive as well as the swrlling remains. Would draining help, plus yesterday I put my sock on and notice blood pooled in my Rahway. Could this be from that. I have a history of blood vlotsi have a vena cava filter too. Appreciate any help I can get. I am going to see my surgeon next week. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Get an ultrasound scan done to check whether you have a collection of blood in the knee joint or not. If there is blood collection it is better to get it drained.
Better to consult an orthopedician rather than surgeon.
Wishing you good health.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
