Can Being A Passive Smoker Of Meth Cause Sore Throat, Dizziness And Wheezing?

Hi. My name is Katherine. Unfortunately, our neighbor was recently arrested for crystal meth on his person as well as a pipe used to smoke it. My concern is for my daughter's health. For months we have smelled very strong unidentifiable fumes coming from next door and my daughter and myself have been adversely affected from inhaling them, I.e. sore throat, headache, lightheadedness, coughing and wheezing, etc. the young man arrested routinely smokes cigarettes out of his bedroom window, and at times strange fumes have drifted into our open windows when his smoking, as our bedroom windows are approx. 10 feet apart. We have contacted the police, etc. My concern is, can our health be adversely affected by exposure to meth smoke?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

Aa per your complain, the symptoms seems to be due to side effects of Meth which you are inhaling since months passively but as you have stopped now gradually symptoms will improve..
Sore throat seems to be due to the heat and chemicals present in smoke that you inhaled as well as dizziness, coughing ,headache and wheezing are side effects of Meth as it is an addiction drug..
You need not to worry as now you will not be exposed to the drug and symptoms will subside..
In case if the symptoms does not improve consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to get Laryngoscopy done along with chest x ray done and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now do steam inhalation, warm saline gargles and take sufficient rest..
Drink plenty of water and other fluids..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
