Can Babies Choke On Cat Hair?

My in-laws are very concerned about the fact that we have indoor cats because we just brought our daughter home from the hospital Thursday. She will be a week old on Monday and they are so worried she will choke on a cat hair. Can babies really choke on cat hair?

Welcome to HCM

Choking in babies can never be caused by cat hairs. You dont have to worry about the chocking part.

But such cat hairs can cause respiratory tract infections due to allergy in few babies.

Hence even if cats are there at home try to nurse your baby in a room where they dont enter.

Keep the baby's environment clean and free of cat hairs.

Wash your hands with soap and water before you nurse your baby.
You can use hand sanitizer too.

Take care of your baby well.

Breast milk is the best milk for the baby.
Exclusive breast feeding should be given for 6 months
