Can Another Dose Of Omnacortil Be Taken For Itching On Hands?

Sir, After consuming a dish made of jaggery, I got severe itching in my palms as well as all over my body. Doctor prescribed me OMNACORTIL 20 MG. I took one dose and now I got relief. is there any side effects of this drug and should I go for a second dose?

The most probable diagnosis of the condition based on the symptoms is urticaria. Corticosteroids like omnacortil can be used for its management but only in acute and severe cases.Yes it can cause side effects if taken for a long time. Instead you might consider taking antihistamines like fexofenadine which are much safer. Topical soothing lotions like calamine lotion can also be used. Discuss the above mentioned therapy with your dermatologist.Regards
