Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

ASD is not a life-threatening problem. Even being a doctor, I also had ASD since birth.

Mine was around 2 cm, the defect was huge to be diagnosed with heart dilated. I just got operated and a device is in place.

After surgery, a minor procedure, I am all well. It's just a minor operation and doesn't have anything to do with longevity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
