Can A Virus Cause UTI?

Hi, I ve been sick with a fever, body aches, and sore through for a few days. Went to insta care today to get a strep test. My test was negative and the Doctor told me I have a cold virus that mimics flu symptoms. Well now I m starting to feel a UTI coming on I think. Is there any way a virus and UTI would be correlated at all? Would a virus cause a UTI or similar symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Viral urinary tract infection is rare as compared to bacterial one.

However, immunocompromised patient, those on steroid therapy are more prone to the development of viral urinary tract infection.

Viral flu usually causes upper respiratory tract infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
