Can A Urologist Help In The Treatment Of Erectile Dysfunction?

My husband is 68 and can no longer have an erection. He always had a problem maintaining an erection for any length of time but even Viagra or Cialis don’t work now. He had a bout of prostatitus in his 40’s but I don’t know of any other problems. No high blood pressure or colesteral. Do you think seeing a urologist can help him?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Erectile dysfunction is generally more of psychological illness than physical one. Hence, it would be advisable for you to consult Psychiatrist first. Following some of the techniques, diet and medications could improve the circulation to the penis and help to overcome the problem. In case it doesn't show good results, then you can consult Urologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query.
