Can A Surgeon Fix My Lost Length Of The Leg During A Knee Replacement Surgery?
I suffered a comminuted fracture of the right distal femur 30 years ago, and now I need a knee replacement. As a result of the surgery to repair my leg, I lost 3/4 of length in that leg and have been dealing with back and hip problems ever since. I d hoped a surgeon could add that 3/4 back to my leg when I got my knee replaced; reading up on it online I was under the impression that it was something that could easily be done. But the knee replacement specialist I was assigned by my insurance says the leg length discrepancy is NOT something that can be addressed when I get my knee replaced. So...did my research net me some bad information, or is this surgeon just unwilling or unable to go to any extra trouble to address my leg length discrepancy?
