Can A Scar Tissue Of An Old Gun Shot Wound Cause Pain In The Hips?

Having discomfort pain on left side hip from a 1984 gun shot wound. The area where pain seams to come from is in the socket of the hip and thigh bone. I walk a lot to ease the pain, but still bothers me. Should I get an mri or could it be from the scar tissue causing the symtoms?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As of now, you can take analgesics liken Acetaminophen or Diclofenac. If pain persist, it is better to go for an MRI scan to look for any residual material or nerve impingement. Most often symptomatic management only required.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
