Can A Respiratory Syncytial Virus Suffering Person Look After A Child?

HI I think I got RSV from my granddaughter, as she has been diagnosed with it. I have the nose and throat involvement so far. No fever, no lower chest involvement, maybe a little ear stuff. My concern is that I m going over to babysit her (so she doesn t have to go into daycare), and wondering if that is safe for her? I am doing all the recommended stuff and hope by this Thursday I m much better.

Hello,

Yes, you can definitely babysit her. Take your medicines regularly. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Do warm water gargles, and steam inhalation four to five times a day. Wear face mask all the time when you are with her. Don't worry, you will not infect her.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
