Can A Bad Knee Cause Increase In Sciatic Pain?

I have a bad knee. Looking at having surgery. I have taken shots for the pain. I began walking two miles a day, three to five days a week in January of this year. The knee is beginning to feel like I am ready for the surgery. My question is: I am currently taking Requip for restless leg syndrome and gabapentin for sciatic nerve pain. Could the knee (right knee) be causing the increase in sciatic pain? The gabapentin does not seem to be relieving the sciatic pain. I am having increased pain through the hip, groin, and leg that nothing seems to relieve.
