Can Zyloric Be Taken For Pain In Toes After Kidney Dialysis?
Hi My dad is 93 and recently gone under 7 dialysis within 15 days of hospitalization as his lungs was full of water and he was unable to breathe now after 6 days of discharge we gave his renal function test in which his creatinine is 11.2 and bood urea is180 and uric acid is 8.5 e complaints about on and off pain in his toe so can we give him zyloric for the same?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Zyloric is good in lowering uric acid , however this is not recommended in pt with impaired renal functions as is your dad , in such cases we use another drug working similarly and more effective that is febuxostate, this drug is safe in drug failure. So febuxstat can be used to lower uric acid in patients with renal failure instead of zyloric.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
