Can Tramadol Be Taken To Reduce The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Paxil?

I have stopped taking paxil about two weeks ago after at least 10yrs. was on 40mg daily one dose am. I have had most of the common withdrawal symtoms and will not take paxil ever again as the severity is high. I have read that tramadol has been used as a temporary treatment to help lesson the symptons of withdrawal from paxil? Thanks for your help. no pay no play / thanks for your great help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I don't think it wise for Tramadol to be substituted in place of Paxil. Tramadol is an opioid, it causes addiction and dose dependence. It is really hard to withdraw from it and in my opinion even more harder than Paxil.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
