Can Sulfatrim DS Be Taken For COPD While Having Thyroid Problem?

HI, l have COPD and after my doctor had a sputum test done, they phoned and put me on the drug sulfatrim ds 800é160 mg. Can this drug be taken if you have a thyroid problem. My doctor would have knows about it but l am wondering if he forgot. when they p0hone me about the prescription, rthey just said that l had picked up- some kind of bug and this prescription was the only one that would cure this infection.
