Can Spider Bite Cause Swelling?

Two or Three months ago I noticed a tiny bite on my little finger right by the upper joint. I figured probably a spider bite. Little finger is still swollen, hurts to bend it, and has a bluish color under the skin. Doesn t seem to be getting worse, but not getting better either.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

A spider bite can cause swelling, redness and pain at the site.
These features are due to release of inflammatory mediators or certain chemicals as a result of spider bite.
If the swelling, pain and redness does not relive with passage of time, you can take a pain killer and anti-histaminic drug.

If the symptoms stiil do not relieve, you can consult your primary healthcare provider to look for any other cause.

Thanks and take care

General & Family Physician Dr. Muhammed Aslam's  Response
Hello dear, welcome to health care magic forum.
If this was caused by spider bite, its unlikely to remain as such for such a long duration.
So we have to exclude other causes by a detailed examination and x ray.
Kindly see your primary physician. Thank you
