Can Qvar And Asmanex Be Used Instead Of Flovent For Asthma?

I have been using Advair inhaler for cough variant asthma with great success. My doctor wanted to put me on just Flovent but it is not covered by my insurance. Suggested by home prescription program were Qvar and Asmanex. Are these as good as Flovent?

Hello,

In several medical studies Flovent was slightly superior to Qvar regarding prevention of recurrent asthma symptoms. Comparing Flovent to Asmanex, these medications according to studies are essentially equal in comparison regarding effectiveness. Generally I transition to Asmanex with my patients.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
