Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Pyridostigmine And Prednisone Cause Itchy Rashes On The Body?
Ihave been taking pyridostigmine 4 tables daily for myasthenia gravis plus prednisone, reduced from 10 mg per day to 10 mg every other day and have developed large itching, oozing welts on my body which I thought were mosquito bites, but they continue to appear and are now quite numerous. Could this result from an allergic response to one of these medications? I would certainly appreciate your response since I am far from home and my physician s response. Thank you in advance, Barbara Waxenberg
Pyridostigmine may cause leukocytoclastic vasculitis. It may present like palpable purpura, but it may also present with urticarial-like lesions, petechial ulcers, erythematous plaques, or nodules.
Prednisolone may cause rash due to immunosuppression or due to secondary Infection with chickenpox or other viral infections.
Please consult your physician/dermatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
