Can Prozac, Trazodone And Lexapro Be Taken Together?

I am taking 15 mg of Lexapro and 50 mg of trazodone. The trazodone is to help me sleep and without it, I don t sleep.. I take the Lexapro to help get thru some bad days. Neither of them work very well. I am 77 years old, and my only other health problem is COPD. My question is: can I take Prozac with these medicines?? My e-mail is YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

No, Lexapro and Prozac are in the same family of medications and both increase the levels of a chemical called serotonin. If the levels of serotonin are too high it can cause serotonin syndrome which is a serious condition. Trazadone also causes increased serotonin levels so you would need to be careful with that combination as well.

Hope I have answered your query.
