Can Omeprazole Be Taken While On Furosemide, Lisinopril And Ambien?

A doctor is advising my husband to take omeprazole to widen his esophagus before he will widen it with a manual procedure because he stated omeprazole will work with his other meds, which are carvedilol, flurosimide, lisnelpril, ambien, to stop the esophagus from narrowing and if this does not work he will do procedure to widen, my husband has no heart burn! My bells are going off! What is your proffional opinion?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There are no evidence-based interactions between Omeprazole and drugs your husband use.

Omeprazole is used to low gastric acid production so esophagal mucosa will be prepared for intervention. So continue therapy given by the doctor and also be careful about your diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
