Can Omeprazole And Azithromycin Be Taken Together?
I m taking an antibiotic (Azithromycin Tablets and have serious heartburn. The leaflet that came with the medication says if you are taking an antiacid contaiing magnesium or aluminum, tell your doctor. Question: Is it safe to take one Omeprazole 40 Mg cpsule?
Azithromycin taken orally may decrease the levels of Omeprazole by reducing its absorption from the stomach and intestine into the body.
So, take these drugs 2 hours apart preferably on an empty stomach.
Also if taken along with antacid containing magnesium or aluminium, the effects of Azithromycin may be decreased. Azithromycin should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking these antacids.
Hope these answer your queries. Best regards.
