Can Metformin Causes Bloody Bowel Movement?
Hi there! I have been on metformin for about 10 months now and recently I ve had bloody bowel movements, no abdominal pain. Blood persistent times 3 weeks. It get better then will bleed again. It s bright red so I know it is fresh blood and not an old bleed. I don t think it it GI related. Any advice?

It is not related to metformin. If symptoms persists better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. We have to rule out possible causes like hemerrhoids.A colonoscopy may be required to make a diagnosis.
