Can Mefenamic Tablets Or The HPT Be Wrong In Confirming Pregnancy?

I`ve taken Mefenamic tablets 250mg before my last period was due on the 14th of feb. I only took 2 tablets and now i`ve taken 2 home pregnancy tests and they are both saying positive. I`m getting my usual period cramps before i have my period. i`m wondering if the 2 tablets i had taken would give a false reading or not /

Hello, and thanks for the query,

I understand your query.

Mefenamic acid tablets do not give a false positive result. They are pain killers. The cramps may be due to pregnancy or a sign of threatened abortion or an ectopic pregnancy [ pregnancy outside the uterus , in tubes or ovaries].

So it is better to get an examination by an obstetrician and an ultrasound to clarify things as soon as possible urgently.

Hope this satisfies your query.
