Can I Stop Metformin If My Sugar Is 100?

sir, my blood pressure is 120/80, iam taking s numlo 5 for that. 2 months back i was shocked to see that my hb1ac is 6.9 and uric acid is above 7. doctor has recomended me for metforfin 500 for 2 months, and to check my sugar fasting and random from home, and said to reduce the metformin if sugar comes below 110. luckily it is 100 now, should i stop taking metformin now?

Thanks for posting your query.

Very good that your Sugar levels have come down. But know that your sugars are normal because of the combined effect of Medication, diet and exercise.

Now if you stop the medication there is a possibility of your blood sugars going high.

So my advise is not to stop Metformin, but take it half the dose , that is 250mg . Take it for 1 month and repeat your sugar test and revert back to me .
