Can HIV Be Contracted Through Contact Of Saliva On Skin?

Hi Doctor, Greetings. Last year I went to a strip club and the stripper spit on my penis while giving handjob. She had spit for 3-4 times. I did not get any major illness after the incident. Can I get HIV from it?? I lost around 12 pounds in last 12 months after the incident. However I did attend fitness classes as well. DO I need to get tested for HIV

I can understand your concern. HIV ifection can get contracted through blood and semen/vaginal fluids through the infected person. An infected person's saliva does not spread HIV. That is why it is safe to share food with an HIV Positive person.

As you have had contact with the saliva of the person possibly infected with HIV, chances are nil that you can get HIV infection from that. Thus, you do not need to get tested for HIV. However, Hepatitis B is a disease that can get transmitted through saliva and you should consider getting tested for that.
