Donepezil does not cause
high blood pressure. You have not written the blood pressure level. If you would have been mentioned the BP levels it could have been a great help to me for suggesting you properly. But for your information, donepezil does not have any effect on blood pressure.
Most patients with
hypertension have other risk factors such as lipid abnormalities, diabetes, family history of early cardiovascular events, obesity, and
cigarette smoking. There is a close relationship between blood pressure levels and the risk of cardiovascular events, stroke, and kidney disease.
Advice
1. Continue donepezil as suggested by your doctor
2. Discuss with your doctor about high BP
3. Start workout like walking, jogging, cycling, or swimming
4. Take diet rich in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables
5. Avoid oily and
high cholesterol foods such as egg yolk and milk products etc
6. Eat less salt
7. Avoid smoking, alcohol, coffee and caffeinated beverages
8. Lose extra weight if you are overweight
9. Reduce your metal stress because stress activates sympathetic system and increases BP
10. Monitor your wife’s BP regularly
