Can Digoxin Cause High Blood Pressure?

Hi. I just took my blood pressure and it was 157/63 on one arm and 168/85 on the other. I am overweight by 50#and am using weight watchers. I have had issues w SVT and take digoxin. Could the digoxin be a contributing factor and how serious is this level of BP?

Hi,

Your blood pressure is high. Since the systolic BP is above 140, this may need anti-hypertensives, but we need to confirm with manual BP measurement on two more occasions. Need workup and management accordingly if persistent, but need not be taken as a serious issue as of now. Your doctor will guide you. Digoxin can not attributed as the cause.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
