Can Colospa Be Taken Instead Of A Colonoscopy For IBS?
I suffer from Gas in my abdomen. I have been diagnosed as IRRITABLE BOWL SYNDROME. The Gastroenteritist has advised for COLONOSCOPYfor further diagnosis. Since COLONOSCOPY is a costly procedure, I seek your kind advise if I can take COLOSPA. If yes, what shall be the prescribed dose? Thanks.
Hello dear welcome to HealthcareMagic Regarding whether you should take colospa for a diagnosed irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) I will suggest yes you can go ahead and take it
The required dose of colospa for adult is 135mg trice daily
Colospa (mebeverine) is a musculotropic antispasmodic medication used in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. It is also indicated for treatment of gastrointestinal spasm caused by a primal organic disorder
Regarding your physician request to do colonoscopy this is not a treatment rather it is a diagnostic procedure to confirm the IBS
I hope this helps Regards
