Can Clonidine Tablet Aggravate Bladder Leakage?

I recently had surgery for bladder leakage and it has been successful, however a friend told me to stop taking clonidine. She says her doctor said it was causing her leakage problem. I take clonidine for blood pressure. Should I ask my doctor to try something else to help lower my blood pressure?

Hello,

Clonidine is can cause sphincter of bladder to contract that leads to urine retention and unable to void it, which can further lead to over flow of urine and leakage. Since you have just had the bladder leakage surgery so you have been having this problem, I would advise you to set an appointment with your doctor and ask for a different blood pressure medicine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
