Can Bonjela Be Used Instead Of Anusol For Anal Itchiness?

Anal itching is causing much misery, especially at night. Creams like Anusol don t work. I am considering trying BONJELA to hopefully numb the area to prevent scratching which seems inevitable at the present. I would like to numb the area and hopefully give it a proper chance to heal.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of anal itching, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetirizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
