Can Baclofen And Diclofenac Sodium Be Taken Together?

I have hbp, type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. I am taking meds for each. I am also in severe pain and having muscle spasms in my back. I have baclofen 20mg and diclofenac sod. Can I take these meds and if so, can I take them both at the same time?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Based on the history you seem to have developed statin-induced myopathy. One of the most important side effects of cholesterol-lowering drugs ('statins') is myopathy which is characterized by severe pain, muscle tenderness, spasms or weakness. In view of the above, I advise you to stop taking a statin and consult your treating doctor for an alternate effective but safer cholesterol-lowering medication. For muscle pain, you may take Diclofenac sodium.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
