Can Akynzeo Be Taken For Nausea And Vomiting After Chemotherapy?
My sister has pancreatic cancer stage II; she has nausea and vomiting after her chemo. Zofran was prescribed but it caused her heart to race, I hear there is a new drug called Akynzeo that helps with the nausea and vomiting. What are the side effects of this drug? is there any other drug that she could take that would not effect her heart rate? Thank you
It is possible that chemotherapy drugs may affect the heart lead to carditis/ cardiomyopathy. Akengio drug is taken one hour before chemotherapy is useful in preventing it.
Along with it, Dexamethasone may use to control it. Side effects of this drug are a headache, asthenia, dyspepsia, fatigue, constipation and erythema.
You may use dexamethasone to control vomiting under your doctor guidance. Please consult your oncologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
