Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been prescribed adderall over the past year now to help with my ADD. Last year it worked great for me but this year not so much, I am tired all the time constantly taking naps and not able to stay up to do my homework with the motivation and focus I used to get. Been doing a lot of research and have realized that taking Modafinil would help me so much better then Adderall. My concern is being able to get it covered by my insurance. I haven t tried getting it covered yet, so not sure what my insurance will do. Just was wondering if anyone would have any intake and advice for me in this situation.

Can Adderall Be Replaced With Modafinil?
Hello Welcome here. Adderall is specifically indicated for ADD. You have been responding well with this drug but the response is not good now. There are cases which develop tolerance to the effects of this drug. An increment is dose should be considered after discussing with your doctor. Modafinil is not the first line treatment for ADD. I do not think replacing adderall with modafinil is a good idea. Hope this helps. Thanks.
