Bumps And Lumps Under Skin

Hi, I have a question about some bumps and lumps under my skin. They are found just on top of the muscle layer in areas such as: hamstrings, biceps , calf , and stomach. They are not visible (as in protruding or raising the skin) and can only be detected by feeling them with the hands.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi
The bumps and lumps under your skin are either lipoma (fat) or neuroma ( nerve thickening). These bumps do not cause any discomfort . If the swelling increases or there is any pain please consult a General surgeon and it might need excision (removal).
Take care

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Sathyadharan Panneer's  Response
Hai,
1. Painless, small diffuse swellings beneath skin present throughout body is usually lipomatosis. Its nothing but swelling containing fat cells. other condition which mimics is neurofibromatosis. Both these swellings are felt initially, but some times they grow very slowly. In that case they become visible also.
2. Usually they dont cause any problems unless they are nearby any nerve / joint / closed cavity causing pressure symptoms, which mandates surgical removal of the particular swelling. So, just leave them as such, they are benign.
3. Surgery is also indicated if they turn painful or infected or cosmetically making you to worry.
