Bump under chin, occasionally size increases, gray pus discharge without blood. Is this a sign of something?

I have a bump under my chin that has been there for a couple of years. It has stayed about the same size, but sometimes gets slightly larger. I finally used a needle to pierce the bump wear I could feel a thin layer of skin (I know, probably not the best idea). The discharge was a gray pus without any blood. Is this a sign of something, or just old pus ?
