General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Calmodulin is a multifunctional intermediate calcium-binding messenger protein expressed in all eukaryotic cells. It is synthesized in the body, which is modulated by action of Vitamin D. Calmodulin and Calbindin are proteins synthesized with the cells by expression of genes and they cannot be supplied or supplemented by diet. They are required for absorption of calcium in the intestines. Hence, Vitamin D is necessary for calcium absorption and it helps to maintain serum calcium levels within narrow reference range between 9 to 11mg/dl.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
