Hi,

Sun burns are really painful and definitely, if the burns are more severe, these can transform into blisters. Basically, the blisters denote a second degree burn and are really painful. Immediately home remedies like cold water compresses and drinking of lot of fluids to maintain hydration may help in early healing and preventing pain.

However, for pain, you may take OTC analgesics. However, if infection is there, in the blisters, then oral antibiotic and/or local antibiotic ointment or lotion may be needed under guidance of your doctor. In extreme cases, the debridement of vesicles may be needed by some doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
