Are Small Red Bumps Throughout The Torso A Symptom Of Contact Dermatitis?

I am 69 years old. I have small red bumps forming on my torso front and back including shoulders that itch and will discharge clear fluid if I scratch them to much. They take a week to come and go and I may have 6 at a time. They are red and the size of a large pimple but have no head to them unless I bring it on from scratching. Last summer I was seriously exposed to a shrub called Poodle Dog in the mountains in CA that I later found out could cause contact dermatitis like poison oak or ivy. It has been several months since that time and I had no symptoms after I made my first contact. I have no idea if contact with that shrub could cause these very itchy bumps to show up now 3 months later or if I should be concerned about something else. This has been going on now for two to three weeks and is not getting better. I am not taking any new medications and right now have no problems with bugs that I am aware of. My wife is not having any of the same issues. Can you help? Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. As per your case history of contact dermatitis, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist. I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions. Regards,Dr. Harshit Bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
