Are Pink Coloured Stools A Cause For Concern In A Toddler?

Hi there, my 2 year old son woke up this morning with pinkish stool and he has had pinkish stool twice more since then. He did have a concussion on Sunday but was cleared by the emerge doctor with a good CT. Is there anything I should be worried about? He hasn t eaten anything red or with color in the passed few days that I can remember, especially since he was throwing up from his concussion. Thanks, Pam

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of pink coloured stools which seems to be due to tear in anal mucosa and due to food intolerance.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Start giving oral rehydration fluids sip by sip to maintain the hydration.

- You should give Probiotics such as lactobacillus to child.

- You should give Ibuprofen to child along with proton pump inhibitors as well.

- Avoid giving any sharp and spicy food.

Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper examination.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
