Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Numb Feet, Weak Legs And Blackish Blue Discoloration On Sole A Cause For Concern?
I d like to to know how serious my situation might be. My circulation in my legs feels as though it is being cut off when I m seated. I feel light headed. My legs are weak, the bottoms of my feet turn blackish blue. My conditions are SLE, Raynauds, PN, Vasculitic PN & CVID to name just a few. I m weak most often especially with climate changes. I do understand my conditions to a certain degree. So the real question is when & should I be seriously concerned when I get to feeling as though my circulation is cut off.
As per my clinical experience, as you must be aware of Raynaud's flare up, it is the episodic vasospasm of peripheral arterioles due to exposure to extreme cold weather most likely. The due precautions of using hand gloves in cold weather, helps a lot. However, use of calcium channel blockers such as nifedipine can help in various cases as per the need of clinician decision. Should approach doc immediately, if there is persistent tingling, numbness, white or blue hue of the hands or legs.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
