Are Nose Bleeds While Having Severe Cold A Concern?

My 16 yr old has a severe cold She just sneezed and got a spouting nose bleed combined with a severe stabbing pain in her head. She also then fainted but it did not seem in combination with the sight of the blood. She has a history of anxiety fainting. Bleeding has stopped. Pain slightly subsided. gave her tylenol. Should we go to the ER?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Your situation is normal after a severe cold.
Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Put a thin layer of a saline- or water-based nasal gel, such as NasoGel, or an antiseptic nasal cream inside your nose.
-Do not blow the nose or put anything else inside your nose for at least 12 hours after the bleeding has stopped.
-Rest
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help.
Kindly regards,
Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi
