Are Midline Cord Deformity And Moderate To Marked Bilateral C7 Root Compression A Problem?

.I had right hand pain, was unable to lift heavy objects an year ago. Had MRI of neck and found that mild to moderate central broad based disc herniation /ridge with foraminal extension. There is mild to moderate midline cord deformity and moderate to marked bilateral c7 root compression. I was scheduled for surgery ACDF this 19. Now my pain has reduced a lot and I am able to raise things after doing a year of physical therapy. Some bearable pain and numbness is still there. Do I have to under go surgery?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You are rightly suggested for surgery.
Long term compression may lead to ischemia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
