Are Increased Heartbeats And BP Due To Allergic Reaction To Cortisone?

Last summer I had a severe case of poison ivy. I was treated with topical cortisone for two weeks and when that didn t work took two packs of prednisone. Still no relief. Was then put on a higher daily dose of prednisone. My symptoms finally were abating after about a week but I also started getting dizzy, severe nausea, increased blood pressure and increased heart rate of up to 120. We stopped the prednisone and over the next several days the symptoms decreased back to normal. Today I had a cervical epidermal to relieve pinched nerves from bulging discs. Tonight I have developed a pounding headache, nausea and my BP and heart rate are elevated. BP 155/105. HR 96. Do you think I have developed an allergic reaction to cortisone? And should I avoid future injections ?

Hi
I had gone through the question and understand your concern.

Usually steroids are used to treat allergy. It is extremely rare that one develops allergy against steroids.

However, you can get allergy test done against steroids , which will clear your doubt.
Consult your physician for the same.

Hope this information helps.
Thank you
