Are Hemoglobin Levels And Iron Levels The Same?

Are hemoglobin and iron measurements the same...I am anemic but my Iron level is improving but doctor said Hemoglobin has gone from 1.03 to 1.06 in two months which is not much of an improvement. My concern is the number 1.06..Does this mean 106 out of 120...or is this 1.05 out of a normal level of 12.

Hi,

Iron and hemoglobin are not the same thing. Iron is a component of hemoglobin and is also found in other parts of the body. It is possible to have a normal hemoglobin level but be lacking in iron. Iron is essential for your body to function normally and to make hemoglobin.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
