Are Digestive Enzymes Better Than Probiotics To Manage Stomach Discomfort?
My stomach just rolls all the time. Feels best right when I eat. Some burning. I had been taking a probiotic for 6 weeks which I started taking because of the uneasiness in my stomach, but that did not improve anything, may have made it worse. I have been taking nexium or prevacid for several years. Bowel movements are normal. I do not have nausea or cramping, just this rolling feeling. Thanks! Someone has suggested digestive enzymes, would that be better than probiotic?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per my surgical experience, the functional aspects of probiotics and digestive enzymes differ in individual cases. It is not the matter of effectiveness, but it is the area concerned regarding the need of particular ailment to cure the underlying cause which matters a lot than anything. As the probiotics are not helping, I recommend to undertake the consumption of digestive enzymes with strict dietary measures to get the best results.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
