Are Dent And Slight Bruise On Forehead Of An Infant Post A Fall A Cause For Concern?

My one year old fell and hit her forehead on the edge of our bed side table. It immediately left a bruised dent on her forehead. I applied ice on it and although the swelling subsided and still a bit bruised, the dent is still there and apparent especially when she frowns. Generally she is fine but does the dent mean anything? Will it heal?

Hi,

No, it is common in children as the bone will be in forming stage and it will not be hard as adults. Due to sponginess of bone, swelling occurs. Give ice pack and apply coconut oil mixed with turmeric powder, swelling will subside gradually.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ravi Praksh B. S., Periodontist
