Are Blood Thinners Safe To Be Taken For A Weak Heart Valve?

my husband is 79 and dr just said he has a weak left valve that showed up..he wants to put him on one of those blood thiners, altho his blood pressure seemed to be ok, should he see a second opion,,as the heart dr he saw seemed undecided and went back and forth about putting him on the med smy email is ,,, YYYY@YYYY thank you,
