Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Doctore, recently I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I believe my case was caught early. One of the meds I was prescribed by my cardiologist was valsartan I already have my blood pressure under control with Atenolol) Last week I had to go into the hospital for an unrelated problem and they took me off valsartan and put me on losartan and told me it was the same medication. I m not certain it is and can not reach my cardiologist until next Friday. Should I continue the Losartan?
Although Valsartan and Losartan belong to same class of drug, their composition is different and hence slightly different properties. However, I will still advise not to change the drug and continue with Losartan only.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
