Are Cortisol And Corisol The Same Thing?

OK, here goes. I was prescribed Hydrocortisone due to extreme fatigue, weakness, and no energy. My Doctor has been trying for over a year to try and figure out what is going on with me. I am on several supplements to help with fatigue, I have even done the 21 day purification diet, also the Micro Biome diet and that didn t work either. On the blood work he did, it was found that my cortisol level was very low. Is this the same as Corisol? And when I look this up online. It always refers to a topical cream. Nothing is mentioned oral doses and information. What do you know?

Hi,

Oral intake if steroids may supress the adrenaline gland to synthesise steroids they may be present like low. Also check for pituitary failure etc.. if it is Addison disease may be low serum cortisol lead to hypotension, weakness, hyponatremia and fatigue. You have to consult your endocrinologist get it early morning serum cortisol, ACTH stimulation test ,serum electrolytes and blood pressure then he will treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
