Are Cephalexin And Diclofenac Advisable For Bartholin Cyst?

Hello, I ve just been diagnosed with a Bartholin Cyst. I have been prescribed 500mg of Cephalexin, 50mg of Diclofenac for inflammation and pain, warm compress and bed rest for at least three days. I was just wondering if the cyst is supposed to come to a head or with the antibiotics its supposed to just go away on its own? I would just like to know what to expect at the end of my antibiotic treatment.

Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
What treatment has been instituted for 'Bartholin's cyst' is proper and kindly follow the things as advised.
Most of the times, infection should subside with antibiotic course and anti-inflammatory medications.
Along with it, kindly do the following to overcome it.
1. Clean the area with mild antiseptic solution like Povidine-iodine solution twice daily.
2. Take warm Sitz bath twice daily.
3. Abstain from sexual activities till the lesions heal completely.
It should start to subside by doing above measures by 3 to 5 days.
In case the cyst recurs or does not subside, you may have to undergo a procedure called 'marsupialization'.
Kindly consult Gynecologist for further evaluation and management.
