Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About a month ago, I started having pain in my hip flexors and legs, then my shoulders and upper arms started aching along with an aching neck. I went to the chiropractor 4 times and the therapeutic masseuse 5 times over the course of 3 weeks before it occurred to me that I might be having the muscle aches associated with statin drugs. My doctor agreed and I stopped taking my simvasatin 10 days ago. However I've felt no relief and have been surviving on NSAIDs, because the pain is quite severe. Someone else who'd had muscle aches associated with his statin drug told me that his pain had only been in his legs and had not been as severe as mine. Is it possible this is a neurological problem? I had a blood test and it came back fine except for slightly elevated sugar.
